Today we’re kicking off a fortnightly series of interviews to give you a “behind the scenes” look into our fantastic commercial and technical teams here at Xynomix. For our first interview, meet Tim!
Tim Baskett is one of our Business Development Managers, and is primarily responsible for driving growth within the Retail, Wholesale & Distribution, Charities, NHS and Education sectors. Prior to working at Xynomix, Tim achieved a BA Hons degree in Financial Economics and then went on to hold a number of sales roles in mobile applications & software solutions, alongside working in IT recruitment for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server DBAs.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I support a diverse client base across my sectors, and my role is to help facilitate the management of their database infrastructure across both SQL Server and Oracle. Where our customers don't have any in-house DBAs or have limited resources, we can provide a fully managed service 24×7×365. Comparatively, for customers with their own DBA teams, we can work in conjunction with their internal resource to support from a 3rd line perspective. In summary - anything around database management is our bag!
So, I’m in regular conversation via phone, email and face-to-face meetings on a daily basis to work with our technical consultants – making sure we keep the lights “on” for our clients. Another key part of my role is focused on innovation and working with my client base and future client base to understand and shape their requirements on a number of key areas, from migration & upgrades to helping with their journey to the cloud.
If Xynomix were a TV show, which character - from any sitcom, drama or reality show - would represent you?
I'd have to say Mike from Suits.
What are three words to describe Xynomix?
Technical, flexible and agile.
What’s the number one challenge you face in your job?
Getting through to potential customers to explain how we can support their needs.
How has Xynomix helped you in your career development?
I’ve had some great opportunities to work on diverse projects, with a client base where every day is different. I’ve also been supported with a strong development plan for my technical knowledge, with access to regular training.
What’s your hidden talent?
Moving both of my ears without touching them. It’s a great party trick!
What’s your motto or personal mantra?
Achieve something every day, no matter how small.
