On 24th February, Oracle are running a workshop for IT managers considering upgrading their Oracle version to Oracle 11g R2.
The workshop is designed to help IT managers and other IT personnel involved with the administration and management of Oracle to understand how an upgrade to Oracle 11g R2 can not only reduce the cost of operating Oracle Database environments, but can also increase the flexibility, scalability and manageability of the Oracle database and surrounding IT stack.
Guidance will be given on the best upgrade methods from older Oracle versions and advice offered on the best practices to take advantage of the new features that Oracle 11g R2 delivers: Parallel Query in Memory execution, ASM Clustered File System and RAC One Node will all be discussed.
So far, Oracle 11g Release 2 is available for Sun SPARC Solaris, Microsoft Windows, Linux-x86, HP-UX Itanium and IBM AIX, with other operating systems to follow.
