Oracle have cited Exadata as a key driver for fundamentally improving the way that businesses operate.
The Exadata machine, an integrated hardware and software solution for high-performance data warehousing, online transaction processing and mixed workloads, can deliver incredibly quick access to data both internally and externally.
This improves the degree to which data can be analysed and used productively, and the speed at which data can be acted upon.
The buzz words here are most certainly: High Visibility and Intelligence.
In a recent newsletter, Oracle reference an IDC report which stated that Oracle’s claims of speed, efficiency and scalability are actually modest in relation to actual experience. Their data was taken from numerous customer panels and one-on-one interviews with users, citing Exadata’s easy deployment, reduced backup times and performance improvements of up to 30 times.
